Spain are out of the World Cup! FIFAWorldCup

Date published: Tuesday 6th December 2022 5:49 -A panenka penalty from Achraf Hakimi settled the shootout in Morocco’s favour as they knock out Spain to reach the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time.

Spain meanwhile were beaten by Japan last time out but they still did enough to qualify for the knockout stages as runners-up in Group E. The knockout tie went to extra-time and Spain struck the post late on as they came very close to winning the game before a penalty shootout was needed.
