Morecambe MP mocked after pleading for Boris Johnson to return as Prime Minister
A Lancashire MP has been slammed on social media after he issued a plea to Boris Johnson to return as Prime Minister.
However the post at 5.47pm tonight has not gone down well with many twitter users. One replied: "Have some dignity, man." while another wrote "Oh dear" with a man facepalming emoji.Another commented "grow up, David" while a sixth person said "this tweet is total cringe". Choosing Mr Johnson would mean the Tories could say they are not on to their third leader since he won their mandate in 2019, an argument that would be difficult to swallow for voters. Mr Johnson was holidaying in the Caribbean while Ms Truss was resigning, but The Times was told he believes it is a matter of “national interest” for him to stand again.
Government minister Sir James Duddridge, who served as one of his parliamentary private secretaries, said "I hope you enjoyed your holiday boss. Time to come back. Few issues at the office that need addressing,” he tweeted along with a “bringbackboris” hashtag. John Baron said some would find it impossible to serve under him, suggesting they could resign the whip to sit as independents. “I would find it very, very difficult, almost impossible – in fact I would find it impossible – to serve under Boris coming back and being prime minister,” he told BBC Radio 4’s PM programme.
