More doctors’ strikes will cause ‘unprecedented disruption’ and increase waiting lists, say NHS bosses
are in the middle of a five-day walkout, from Thursday 13 July to Tuesday 18 July – the longest in NHS history and the fourth round of action by doctors this year.
Sir Julian Hartley, chief executive of NHS Providers, said the series of strikes “will lead to an unprecedented level of disruption to patient care and risks denting staff morale further. On average, 49,000 appointments and procedures had to be rescheduled per day during the junior doctors’ strike, she said.
