Russian bloggers are claiming the missile strike that killed two civilians in a Polish border town could have been a covert Ukrainian operation to draw Nato allies into the war
“There is the possibility that this is a direct provocation by Ukraine to draw Nato into the conflict using Article 5,” suggested popular Telegram channel Scouting, predicting that Polish armed forces could soon enter Western Ukraine as the vanguard of the military alliance.
Blogger Rybar, believed to be close to Russia’s military establishment, said the episode would be used to boost the sales of Western arms companies. “We have already said many times that the war in Ukraine is a source of fabulous profits for the parties concerned,” the blogger wrote. “Polish air defence is unlikely to be able to defend the country’s territory. And this in turn will be a good reason to pour more money into arms procurement.”
