A new Sunday roast with a Middle Eastern twist is heading to Manchester this weekend. , off Albert Square.
The Sunday menu will launch this Sunday, and boasts chicken roasted with lemon, a Middle eastern za’tar spice blend and saffron, a roast rump of Cumbrian beef or a spiced chick pea, falafel-style nut roast for the vegetarian option. The roasts are served with crispy fenugreek potatoes, roasted carrots and parsnips, butternut squash, cabbage, kale, peas and the more traditional Yorkshire Pudding and gravy. Keeping up the Middle Eastern vibe, mezze started include olives, hummus, whipped goats cheese and falafel, all served with warm pittas.A Medjool date bread and butter pudding and a chocolate tart with sour cherry jam round things off. The main courses start at £14, with starters ranging from £4 to £6.
Maray opened in the city centre over the summer, after enjoying success with three locations in Liverpool. Having scored itself reviews from national critics, it brought a new branch to Manchester after pop-up collaborations with the likes of Bundobust and the Track brewery in Piccadilly. Named after the trendy, multi-cultural district in Paris, Le Marais, the restaurant has become best known for its signature dish, the Disco Cauliflower, a whole head of cauliflower roasted with yoghurt, spices and pomegranate. The restaurant sells a staggering 3000 of them every month.
