Shanks won the Rutherglen and Hamilton West by-election earlier this month after he took nearly 60 per cent of the vote.
Michael Shanks has been sworn into the House of Commons as the Labour MP for Rutherglen and Hamilton West.
Shanks was flanked by Murray and Shadow Wales Secretary Jo Stevens as he came forward to take his oath on Monday afternoon in the Commons.He said: "I swear by almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to his majesty King Charles, his heirs and successors, according to law. So help me God."He then signed a document and spoke to Commons speaker Lindsay Hoyle.
