Thunderstorms and heavy showers have hit much of the UK over the last few weeks as the weather has not quite been what many in the UK had hoped for. Now, the Met Office has released its long-range weather forecast which suggests we could well have to wait a while longer for a prolonged spell of warmer days.
Currently, the forecast suggests temperatures will fail to reach 20C at all this week in Nottingham - with some rain in the forecast for Saturday, July 22 and Sunday, July 23. Today, Tuesday, July 18, there is also some heavy rain predicted up to 4pm, with highs of 17C expected. The current UK long-range forecast for Saturday, July 22 through to Monday, July 31, suggests a period of 'unsettled conditions' with 'prolonged periods of heavy rain' predicted across the UK. It adds: "Some of the showers may turn heavy and thundery."However, there is brighter news ahead as the weather could take a more agreeable turn moving into August.
But the forecast goes on to say: "The likelihood of showers may decrease towards the middle of the month, as more settled conditions become somewhat more probable. Temperatures are generally expected to be around average for the time of year, with spells of very warm or hot conditions being less likely than usual."
