“I never used to have a sweet tooth and before, if you put a sausage roll or a bar of chocolate in front of me, I would have been straight for the sausage roll. But now, I’d seriously think about the bar of chocolate. Ms Dixon, who runs a menopause cafe in York, says she never used to put butter on toast or if she did, she would only use the tiniest scrape. But now, she smothers her toast with about an inch of butter.
“I think anything we can do to help women navigate this time of their lives, but also make it more positive is brilliant,” she said. “We need to be talking about the menopause more and we need to be talking about the good parts of it too.” “Everyone knows about hot flushes and mood changes, but things like changes to taste and smell slip through the net,” she said.
