Three men suspected to be part of an Irish cartel have been charged with firearm offences, the National Crime Agency has said.
We reported in 2022 that the Kinahan cartel is understood to be working with feared Scottish crime clan the Lyons. Scottish Conservatives MSP Russell Findlay claimed it was "widely known" that the Kinahans worked in partnership with the Glasgow-based family. The firearm offences include conspiring to possess a firearm and ammunition for a firearm without certificates, and conspiring to possess a prohibited weapon and prohibited ammunition.
Two other men, Jack Kavanagh, 23, from Tamworth, and Liam Byrne, 42, from Dublin, have been arrested in Spain, and extradition proceedings are under way, the NCA added.
