The colleagues of late cyclist Emma Burke Newman are determined to turn their grief into positive change as they campaign for safer Glasgow…
The heartbroken colleagues of a cyclist who died at a Glasgow junction have told of their own harrowing near misses cycling in the city centre, inspiring them to campaign for safer roads.
"She was so bright, intelligent and interesting. We want to make sure we're honouring her experience of cities and our experience of cities by doing something that would ultimately lead to positive change."Since their campaign launched earlier this month, New Practice has been flooded with hundreds of responses from all types of road users including drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.
"That's where the name of the campaign comes from, it's all about these incidents waiting to happen." The similarities that Becca has seen in the responses reveal that multiple drivers are making similar"bad" choices, which she attributes to poor road design."That means there are multiple intersections that are uncomfortable for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.
