The Money Saving Expert founder said many people can claim a lot more cash back
Martin Lewis has shared an "urgent" update as people with savings in the bank could be missing out on thousands of pounds in extra cash.
The article continues: "If you've savings, check their rates ASAP. UK interest and mortgage rates have jumped, but almost all savings accounts lag far behind. Yet this week, not only can you boost what you earn substantially, but the top accounts are from big names too."NS&I, formerly National Savings, has launched a 6.2% fixed-rate savings account. You put your money in the account and you can't touch it for 12 months and you receive the interest when the year is up.
MSE said: "Every penny is backed by the Treasury so [your money is] as safe as it gets" and adds: "The last time we saw a 6.2% fix was 2008". You can deposit anything from £500 to £1m. The finance site has highlighted Santander's Easy Access Saver Limited Edition, which offers 5.2% interest, as its "top" account. You can pay in as little as £1, with a maximum of £250,000.
