Manchester United fans received worrying reports earlier today about the current state of the takeover

Manchester United fans will be rightly worried about the state of the takeover after months of inactivity surrounding the sale.

While protests have continued this season, the American family are believed to be 'thick-skinned' and are unlikely to sell just because of fan backlash. Since announcing the 'strategic review' in November, updates from the club have been kept to a minimum. Both Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe's bids are thought to be in the region of £6bn. However, the Qatari banker is aiming to purchase 100 per cent of the Reds while INEOS' chief is understood to want around 60 per cent.

United’s co-owners, Joel and Avram Glazer, released a statement in November explaining that the club were searching for fresh investment as part of an ‘evaluation of strategic alternatives’. It was never expressly stated whether the Glazer family were seeking to sell the whole club or a partial stake, but both Sheikh Jassim of Qatar and Sir Jim Ratcliffe emerged as interested parties.
