Manchester Airport Channel 4 Dispatches documentary sees passengers crawl through conveyor belts to get bags, 'brutal' staff shifts and people 'trying to start fights'
An undercover investigation has lifted the lid on Manchester Airport's recently troubles amid complaints of huge queues, delays, cancellations and lost luggage.
The undercover reporter, who got a job as a baggage handler working for Swissport, also witnessed staff undertaking "brutal" shifts over multiple days - normally covered by up to three people before the Covid-19 pandemic. Other baggage handlers also described how their team numbers had been slashed with “experienced staff” the majority of people who had been sacked.
In response to Dispatches’ investigation, Swissport said: “We are sorry for our part in the disruption some people have experienced at Manchester Airport. We are doing everything we can to mitigate delays for passengers, including hiring more than 4100 people since January.”
