A man who broke his cousin’s jaw after administering “multiple boxer-like blows” has been handed a suspended sentence
.
The incident - which was captured on CCTV - became more heating and after the injured party jabbed his finger at Beckett, the defendant grabbed his cousin by the neck. The injured party went home that evening but attended Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry the following morning. From there he was referred to the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald where he underwent surgery for a fractured jaw.
Despite initially pleading "not guilty" to a charge of grievous bodily harm, he later admitted the offence and claimed he lashed out after his cousin made a derogatory comment about his mother.
