Emergency services rushed to the Foot of the Walk in Leith following reports of a man being attacked at around 2.10pm.
Following the incident, a 41-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.
The area, near the Newkirkgate centre, has been cordoned off as officers from Police Scotland stand guard, Edinburgh Live reports.Police Scotland confirmed enquiries were currently ongoing.
