A 36-year-old man was rushed to hospital after being seriously assaulted in broad daylight in Dumbarton. Police are searching for a man in his 40s wearing a grey tracksuit in connection.

The 36-year-old victim was on Garshake Road near to the A82 Stirling Road junction around 3.10pm on Friday when he was seriously assaulted by another man.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he received treatment before being discharged. Detective Constable Iain Allison said: "Officers have been carrying out enquiries in the area and we believe that there were two women in a bus stop nearby who helped the injured man. We are keen to hear from them as they may have information that could assist our enquiry."We'd encourage anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the incident take place, particularly anyone with dashcam or mobile phone footage to call police.
