A huge police cordon and presence remains in place this evening while investigations continue
A man riding an electric bike blasted a number of blank shots at a man as he was walking his dog on a Georgian Quarter street.
A woman who lived near the scene also told the ECHO she heard loud bangs at around 4.45pm. She said: "I was just having a nap when I heard the bangs and was awake straight away. I thought they didn't sound like fireworks. I said that sounded like a gun." A third person confirmed to the ECHO they saw a man dressed in black fleeing on a bike away from the area.
A police scientific support unit also arrived at around 7pm. The forensic team photographed an area of Chatham Street and two yellow evidence markers were spotted in the street. Carrying or using firearms and dangerous weapons on our streets where people live will not be tolerated in Merseyside and I would like to reassure residents that our officers remain at the scene to investigate the incident.
