A radiographer who spends his days scanning patients for signs of deadly cancer has taken a three-month career break to raise money for the hospital he loves.
Karl, 39, was inspired to take on the July to October challenge after losing his mum Joan to an undetected heart condition in December 2020, and his dad Bill to a heart attack just two years later in January 2023.He said: "The mutual friend asked my dad if he could give my mum a lift back to Liverpool, where she living at the time as a student nurse, as mum had only come over from Ireland to study about six months earlier.
In between peaks, Karl will take off to Germany on September 24 to take part in the 2023 Berlin Marathon.
