A New Bedford man has died after being shot multiple times Wednesday afternoon in Myles Standish State Forest in Plymouth, Massachusetts, according to authorities.
Nicole had just arrived with her family at Fearing Pond around 2:30, and they were ready to enjoy a summer day beachside, when she heard multiple gunshots.
"I immediately knew it was gunfire," she said."I hustled the kids back to the car, and went down to see if I could be of any assistance."The male victim appeared to have been shot in his face, shoulder and arm, she said."I relieved him from CPR, he was pretty tired," she said."First responders came with a defibrillator, they took over for my CPR."Nicole says it appeared Aponte-Flores had been at the pond with his family.
Police in neighboring Carver said they and state police were investigating the area of Cranberry Road and Tremont Street in connection with the shooting. Earlier in the afternoon, police in Plymouth said a suspect was in custody, but later clarified that"after further information the subject in custody was not the shooter."
Investigators haven't said if the shooter is in custody, and they have not released details into what the argument was about that led to the crime.
