He allegedly grabbed his mother when she mentioned phoning the police

A Belfast man who threw food around and threatened to “wreck” his mother’s home has been jailed for four months. The 25-year-old, of Euston Street in the east of the city, was convicted of common assault, criminal damage and threats to damage property.“The injured party reported that her son, the defendant, stated ‘I will wreck this f****** house’ following an argument at their home,” a prosecution lawyer said.

, but then made off from the scene.Defence solicitor David Jones told the court that the wooden board had been put up to cover a window previously broken by McFerran. Mr Jones argued that his client is now back in contact with his mother as part of “sustained efforts” to avoid being in and out of prison.Imposing two months' custody for the offences, District Judge Anne Marshall ordered McFerran to serve a further two months from previous suspended sentences. For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here and sign up to our daily newsletter here.
