A man has appeared in court accused of four firearm offences after a bomb squad swooped on a property in Bellshill.
Officers from Police Scotland were called to the address on West End Drive in the North Lanarkshire town after the alarm was raised at around 10.30am on Saturday, September 30. Gordon Smith was arrested and charged following the incident. The 45-year-old appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday where he faced a total of seven charges. He is accused of four firearms offences including possession of a firearm or ammunition, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence and holding a weapon without a licence.
Smith also faces one charge of being in possession of an explosive substance. He also faces a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour and another alleging a breach of bail conditions.Top news stories today Officers remained in attendance at the scene throughout the weekend.
