He was previously caught with cocaine, and on another occasion refused to provide a blood sample as he was fasting for Ramadan.
Harris Asim, 28, was charged with dangerous driving following the incident on Great Western Road on the afternoon of November 4, 2018.
Asim, in a Volkswagen Golf, was also in the inside lane, described as driving “erratically” and trying to squeeze through the traffic. Asim, of Maryhill, overtook him before applying his brakes, forcing Mr Hay to also apply his brakes sharply. They both got out of their cars and at one stage, Asim admitted trying to ram Mr Hay’s vehicle off the road.
Asim was also caught with around £15 worth of cocaine on Dumbreck Road in July 2020, and last April, he refused to provide a specimen of blood to determine his ability to drive, on the basis that he was fasting for Ramadan.Officers carried out some online research and noted this would not be the case.
