The bizarre statement was put out by North West Motorway Police
North West Motorway Police said its officers today, Wednesday, August 30 stopped the unknown man as he was driving down the M62 with the bird on his shoulder. Posting the bizarre update on the police's social media pages, officers said the man was pulled over by the interceptors because animals should be in suitable carriers or restraints.
The full police statement said: "Not sure whether to use the term driver or pirate for this post. MC41 stopped them on the M62 with an African grey parrot on his shoulder.
