The pair entered his home in the middle of the night

Two men broke into the property on Middleton Street in the Cessnock area at around 1.20am on Tuesday.He was rushed to hospital to be treated for his injuries and an investigation into the incident has since been launched.

Cops are looking for the two assailants, who are described as having their faces covered and wearing dark hooded tops with the hoods up.Police Constable Scott Kelly from the Community Investigation Unit at Helen Street Police Office said: “We are appealing to members of the public who may have seen anyone matching these descriptions around the time of this incident.

“I am also appealing to anyone who may have any other information which could assist us, including dash cam and private CCTV footage, to get in touch.”
