The incident has been referred to Greater Manchester Police's Professional Standards Branch due 'previous contact'.
Emergency crews were called to a report of concern for a woman at an address on Hyde Road in Manchester at 11.20am on Saturday, September 30. Officers attended but despite the efforts of medics, the 43-year-old died.
He remains in custody for questioning. Police have not disclosed in which area of Hyde Road the incident occurred. However, they said a cordon remained in place whilst they continued to try and piece together what happened.
