A 63-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle
A man has been arrested after specialist traffic cops stopped a stolen and cloned Ford Fiesta. Officers from GMP's Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit 'boxed in' the car on St James Street in Heywood town centre last night .
The driver, a 63-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. He has been released under investigation. The car, which was stolen last month from Rochdale, has now been returned to its owner. Cloning is when criminals copy the identity of another car by stealing or duplicating its registration plates.
"We would like drivers to think about making it harder for criminals to steal their belongings by taking the time to read through some of our crime prevention advice as some simple tips can make a big difference, especially if you have keyless entry."
