The majority of Conservative Party members want Liz Truss to stand down as Prime Minister, with 80 per cent saying she is doing a bad job, a new poll has found.
A YouGov survey of more than 500 members, quizzed yesterday and today, found that 39 per cent of those who voted for Ms Truss in the leadership election now wanted her to step aside. In total, 55 per cent thought she should resign, while 38 per cent wanted her to stay. Just 15 per cent felt she was doing well, while 83 per cent said her tenure was going badly.
The figures are similar to those achieved by Boris Johnson during the final throes of his leadership, with 59 per cent wanting him to go and just 36 per cent supporting him to continue on the eve of his departure.One in three would like to see the former-PM reinstated, followed by 23 per cent for leadership challenger and former Chancellor Rishi Sunak, and 10 per cent for Defence Secretary Ben Wallace.
