BREAKING: The A683 Hornby Road in Claughton is closed both directions
A major road in Lancaster is closed this morning as a result of a road traffic collision late on Sunday night. A vehicle involved in the crash struck a building which suffered significant damage and is now deemed to be unsafe.
The A683 Hornby Road in Claughton is closed in both directions near The Fenwick Arms public house. The closure is affecting traffic heading towards Lancaster and Ingleton. Police are on the scene and are dealing with the incident. They say the road will remain closed between Caton and Hornby through the early hours "until engineers can assess the damage to a building which has suffered significant damage and is unsafe".An alert at 1.26am from road and traffic monitoring service Inrix said: "A683 in both directions blocked due to earlier accident and unsafe building near The Fenwick pub. Affecting traffic heading Lancaster and Ingleton.
