Subterranean tunnels could be repurposed at Love Lane as part of the scheme
More than 500 new apartments could be built on the edge of Liverpool city centre as part of plans for tower blocks up to 11 storeys tall.
As part of the proposed reuse of the site, existing subterranean tunnels beneath the site and existing railway arches could be transformed into commercial space.According to documents submitted to the local authority, the Love Lane sites fall within the previous world heritage site buffer zone, while the Pall Mall site lies on its periphery.
All 507 apartments are designed and proposed for open market sale. Design and access statements attached with the application said: “The apartments will offer high quality living spaces with a good outlook, with premium views towards the River Mersey and will benefit from a shared external courtyard space at the heart of each residential block.
“We believe the proposals offer not just much needed homes and commercial space, we believe this will support the city ambitions for continuing the regeneration of Pumpfields, the city core integration of the area.”
