, 40, was found dead seemingly by a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a two-day major manhunt, Maine Commissioner of Public Safety Michael Sauschuck said.
“Like many people I’m breathing a sigh of relief tonight knowing that Robert Card is no longer a threat to anyone,” she said.“Tonight the city of Lewiston and the state of Maine can begin to move forward on the long road of healing,” she told the press conference. Mr Sauschuck, the commissioner for public safety, said Card’s body was found around 7.45pm ET behind a dumpster along the banks of the Androscoggin River.
“I’m relieved but not happy,” she said. “There was too much death. Too many people were hurt. Relieved, yes, happy, no.”
