Delays of 1 hour and 5 miles of congestionIn a separate tweet, they said: ""NEW INCIDENT #M6 southbound between J24 #Ashton and J23 #Manchester #Liverpool #NewtonleWillows #A580. 2 lanes closed in the roadworks due to a broken down van.
"Free recovery en-route. 3 miles of congestion and 20 min delay. Allow extra time if heading that way."
