'Loved' boy died aged one after sustaining severe brain injury at birth, inquest hears
A 'loved' little boy died aged just one after sustaining 'severe' brain injury at birth, an inquest has heard.
Alfie also began to suffer from infantile spasms and was diagnosed with severe global hypoxic ischemic brain injury. A later Healthcare Safety Investigation Brance report said that staff at the Royal Oldham Hospital's birth centre had failed to monitor Alfie and his mother's heartbeats effectively during the birth. The report also said staff had failed to press the emergency call button when necessary during birth.
