Louise had emotional news for BBC Breakfast viewers
BBC Breakfast viewers suffered an emotional blow on Tuesday morning as Louise Minchin announced she is leaving the programme after nearly 20 years on screen.
Announcing the news that she would leave at the end of the summer in an official statement, she said: "I have absolutely loved being part of the six million-strong BBC Breakfast family but, after nearly two decades presenting the programme, I have decided it is time I stopped setting my alarm for 03.40 in the morning.
Louise also had a heartfelt message for her loyal viewers as she shared her news personally during the live show on Tuesday. "It's not going to be for a while. But before anything else I wanted to thank everyone that is watching for your loyalty and your support over all those years.
