What a place this used to be 😍
Lancashire was once home to a huge retail centre that had everything you could possibly imagine to keep the whole family entertained.
The iconic former mill that sits alongside the Leeds and Liverpool Canal closed as a shopping centre in 2019, with plans for its future recently being announced. LancsLive has taken a look back at Botany Bay in its heyday, reflecting on the wonders that could be found there.From 2007 onwards, the retail centre had a dedicated Christmas shop with festive displays that remained iconic for years.
Situated inside Botany Bay was Café 1855 where many locals enjoyed meeting family and friends for a cup of tea and a slice of cake or a warming lunch. There was also the Smethurst Restaurant on the fourth floor for those wanting a more substantial meal.
