Michael Slota said he did not want to identify himself as a sex offender
Michael Slota, 50, was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order - then known as a Sexual Offences Prevention Order - in 2012 when he was convicted of 21 counts of making indecent images of children. He was also made subject to notification requirements, ordering him to notify police of any change of circumstance including name and address.
Prosecutor Leila Taleb said: "His devices were subject to digital forensic analysis. Traces of the app were found and indicated a sexual interest in children. It wasn't on the device itself but it was showing clearly it had been deleted, putting him in breach of the order." The court heard that in his police interview, Slota said he used the alias "to keep himself safe" and "didn't think to register the alias with police" and "thought using his own name would endanger him."
His Honour Judge Stubbs KC spared Slota a prison sentence, instead handing him a community order for two years. He told him: "You have been here many times before, you know the consequences of breaching orders and you know they are put in place because of your sexual interest in children.
