In a statement posted to Instagram, Lizzo has called the accusations "sensationalised stories," and described the past few days as "gut-wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing"."My work ethic, morals and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticised," Lizzo wrote on the social media platform.
"These sensationalised stories are coming from former employees who have already publicly admitted that they were told their behaviour on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional," she continued.Lizzo's statement added that while she is "not here to be looked at as a victim... I also know I am not the villain that people and the media have portrayed me to be these last few days".
The Grammy award-winning singer also expressed that she's no stranger to body shaming and it's something that she experiences on a "daily basis." She added that she would "absolutely never criticise or terminate an employee because of their weight".
