Liz Truss warns the UK faces a ‘difficult winter’ as energy prices rise, but defends mini-budget
Prime Minister Liz Truss admitted that it will be a “difficult winter” for the UK hours before the new energy price cap came into force from today . But she defended the mini-budget revealed earlier this week despite the “disruption” the plans caused.
Speaking to broadcasters on Friday, the Prime Minister said: “I recognise there has been disruption but it was really, really important we were able to get help to families as soon as possible.“This is going to be a difficult winter and I am determined to do all I can to help families and help the economy at this time.”
The Chancellor has defended his mini-budget, saying that he had to “something different” to spark the economy.
