Liverpool's Premier League task has been made clear as new figures reveal size of gap to Manchester United, Chelsea and Man City

Liverpool are being left behind in the transfer market by many of their Premier League rivals after the size of their task to regain a place in the top four was underlined.

They have calculated the Reds will have spent up to £663m in assembling their current roster of players under Jurgen Klopp - a slight decrease on the transfer fees spent on last season's squad. And the Reds are also behind three other Premier League clubs when it comes to money spent on constructing a squad to challenge for Champions League qualification and the ultimate crown of title winners.

Paris Saint-Germain are the only team above Liverpool in the rankings not to be from England, and have spent £861m on their current squad. The value of the transfer fees spent by the top four come to more than 1bn euros each.
