Qatari investment pulling out of negotiations to buy Manchester United could have a knock-on effect on Liverpool's future transfer dealings

Skeikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has officially withdrawn his interest in acquiring Manchester United - a bitter blow to the club's supporters who hoped to see the Glazer family's 20-year reign come to an end.The current United ownership made the announcement in November 2022 that they were to consider selling their shares. A contest began, sparking an offer of £5bn from the Qatari businessman in May, now five months on negotiations to conclude a deal appear to be dead in the water.

Just look at how Manchester City across an extended period and Newcastle United for a so-far brief spell have benefitted from that kind of financial might.

Flipping the page though, football clubs must co-exist in the same world. That often means outside influences can be detrimental and one club's plan will never go 100 percent to the letter, and in this case the message is that Liverpool could potentially be impacted in the transfer market as a result of United's partial sale.

The Reds held an interest in Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram for large periods of the summer. In the end the 22-year-old did not become a part of Jurgen Klopp's 'Liverpool 2.0', staying put at the Allianz Riviera.
