David Tubey, 47, says he is in a 'scary' situation as he is struggling to get out of Tenerife after his flight was cancelled
By Monday afternoon, 232 flights departing UK airports and 271 arriving flights had been cancelled, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium.
Mr Tubey has travel insurance but was told it will not help as it does not cover mechanical failure. He says easyJet should have had a contingency plan and asked why repatriation flights weren’t being organised.An easyJet holidays spokesperson told: “We’re really sorry to hear that the Tubey family’s flight home has been cancelled as a result of the Air Traffic Control systems failure, which has been causing significant disruption to flying programmes for all airlines across the UK.
Toby Roberts and his girlfriend, Rosie, worked all summer for a holiday together before they started university Mr Roberts, from Shropshire, said he spent “hours and hours” on Monday night trying to find a solution to their situation as the travel agency he booked with, Opodo, told him he would have to find alternative flights himself.
