If there’s one team who knows all about the difficulty about playing against a team reduced to 10 men this season, it’s Liverpool.
And the annoyance among the majority at Anfield was becoming increasingly palpable as Jurgen Klopp’s side struggled to break down a well-drilled Everton, despite the visitors being reduced to 10 men before half-time after Ashley Young was dismissed for two bookable offences on Luis Diaz.
Liverpool, having had little rub of the green this campaign from officials, made the most of it, their intensity increased by the change of personnel and formation. Jordan Pickford, having been not employed enough for Liverpool's liking, consulted his water bottle for instructions of where Mohamed Salah would place his spot kick, only to guess wrongly. And, deep in injury time, Nunez laid on a second for the Egyptian. Job done.
