The ECHO's Liverpool FC contributors assess just how the Reds could effectively replace Mohamed Salah
Paul Gorst: Liverpool have two major problems to consider when it comes to properly replacing Mohamed Salah in this squad.
Kaoru Mitoma of Brighton is an emerging wideman of real Premier League class, while Napoli's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was one of the finest across Europe last season as he inspired the Italians to the Serie A title. Both players would be exciting additions that would have supporters on the edge of their seats but their numbers are dwarfed by Salah's and they are both at their best on the left.
But some are more difficult to replace than others, and Mohamed Salah certainly fits among that group. And it may well be that Liverpool don't even bother trying. And if not the England man, then rest assured the recruitment team will have someone else lined up. There always is.Theo Squires: Liverpool achieved what once seemed impossible when signing Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo. Jurgen Klopp once boasted an untouchable front three, but the Reds’ last two January signings have enjoyed a seamless transition replacing Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
Only 22, the inverted forward continues to thrive for the Gunners, returning more than his fair share of goals and assists. Granted, having helped fire Arsenal back into the Champions League with a Premier League title-challenge last year, it would be hard to convince Arsenal to sell. But any slip-up this year and Liverpool should be knocking at the door.
