Phillips had limited game time last term, but now has a Premier League, a Champions League and an FA Cup to his namePhillips is a proven Premier League midfielder, helping Leeds to finish 9th in their first season back in the top flight and making 49 Premier League appearances in total for the Yorkshire side.
He also represented England Euro 2020 as the Three Lions reached the final and was involved in his country's run to the quarter-finals in the 2022 World Cup. But he hasn't quite had the same joy at Man City, making just 12 Premier League appearances and playing 21 games in total. He was absent for 14 games due to a shoulder injury. However, this season, there's no signs Phillips will force his way in to Pep Guardiola's starting XI, with him sitting on the bench for their opening four fixtures.
Phillips had wanted to stay at Man City and fight for his place, and could follow the same fate as Jack Grealish, who needed a season to gain a regular spot in the team.But with the 2024 European Championships fast approaching, it's sensible to assume Phillips will be wanting consistent game time to prove he's worthy of an England call-up for the tournament.
