Jurgen Klopp is expected to rotate his squad once again tonight as Liverpool take on Bournemouth in the League Cup
The last time Liverpool visited Bournemouth, it effectively signalled the end of one era under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp.
While defeats at Real Madrid and Manchester City immediately followed, it was the loss at the Vitality Stadium that truly exposed a different plan was required. And, sure enough, within a month Liverpool were employing a new box-midfield formation that has been key to them subsequently embarking on a run of just one defeat in 25 games in all competitions.
"Our squad is full of potential, our squad is full of desire," says Liverpool assistant boss Pep Lijnders. "You saw an example in the Toulouse game, Europa League, when we changed eight times, we kept our identity, we still were in the opposition half, we had the ball, we were constantly creating. And with eight changes, that says a lot.
"We knew what he is capable of," says Lijnders of his Dutch counterpart. "It is the Ryan Gravenberch of Ajax that we see now. I'm not sure what happened at Bayern, you cannot judge that, but each player with confidence and without confidence is a different player. Each player with game time or without game time is a different player. That's how it is.
