The motorway is closed in both directions
Cheshire Police said part of the motorway is closed in both directions at junction 11 due to an "ongoing police incident". According to traffic management Inrix there is also congestion just before junction 14 and just before junction 9.
It said: "M56 in both directions blocked, queueing traffic due to police incident at J11 A56 Chester Road . Congestion to Just before J14 for eastbound and just before J9 for westbound."
