Breaking news
The Derbion shopping centre has been evacuated this morning after what is believed to be a car fire in the basement car park. Derbyshire police and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service are at the scene and the entrance has been taped off.
There are two fire engines and three police cars at the entrance to the car park, off Traffic Street in Derby city centre. Eye-witnesses are reporting that smoke was seen billowing through the shopping centre soon after 11am this morning,Footage seen by Derbyshire Live shows hundreds of shoppers heading to the exits and then congregating on The Spot and other exits after fire alarms went off at the Derbion.
One Derbyshire Live reader said: "It was just crazy, people running out of the car park screaming 'a car's on fire'. I went to park my car and heard a massive bang! So I got out as fast as I could."
