Regent Street has reopened in both directions

was closed in both directions earlier today, with West Yorkshire Police at the scene. There was slow traffic and diversions in place from Cross Stamford Street to Skinner Lane, INRIX reported.

A road closure was in place and traffic, including buses, was diverted. Public transport was diverted via Eastgate, St Peters St, Marsh Lane and Burmantofts St in both directions. It is not clear at this time what has caused the road closure.A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police confirmed: "Police were called by a business premises on Leylands Road, Leeds at around 11.37am today to a report they had been sent a suspicious item.

Crime scene investigation tape cordoned off Leylands Road, as well as the A61 Regent Street, which was closed in both directions for around three hours. Around 2.30pm, both police and Vintage Cash Cow confirmed the item was a grenade.
