When it came to writing a series about the, George Kay was given access to an ‘incredibly moving’ 18 hours worth of deathbed statements.
‘I was given 18 hours of police interviews with Sasha on his deathbed and I was able to read the whole thing, every word he spoke,’ Kay said. In the first episode, police are stunned when a man who is still very much alive asks them to investigate his murder. ‘He is absolutely integral to it. He is not only a witness to his own murder, but he’s a detective too.’
