A pay dispute between union workers and an oil logistics company could turn sour as strike action begins in Immingham, with accusations of intimidation and negotiation breakdowns.
An initial pay increase was offered by Briggs Marine, but unions say it is well below inflation and would be a “kick in the teeth” to the workers. The GMB Union has previously said that this action was “completely avoidable”, but claims Briggs Marine “refused to satisfy” the pay terms workers are asking for.David Shamma, GMB Regional Organiser, said: “The latest offer is well below inflation and is a kick in the teeth for a committed and loyal workforce who carried this company through Covid. It’s quite frankly insulting.
