Liel Abada Celtic transfer bids expected as European clubs 'set' to make their move for Israeli wide man
Sky Sports claim that one French outfit and a Bundesliga side - both unnamed - are preparing bids for the wide man. However, the 21-year-old, who made such an impact under Ange Postecoglou despite not always being a regular starter, has a Celtic deal that runs until 2026 and Brendan Rodgers recently revealed that the player told him his intention was to stay at the club after sit down talks.
So, any bids would need to be significant in order to get Celtic round the table. And having already sold Jota for £25million this summer, losing another one of their main attacking threats seems unlikely at this stage, even allowing for the addition of Yang Hyun-jun from South Korea during the window. Abada had been linked with Ajax earlier this summer, and while the Dutch giants are thought to be keeping an eye on his progress, it's very much a watching brief for now.
Rodgers said last month: “We had a nice conversation, a really open conversation, when I came in. He sat in the office and I just wanted to know what his ambitions were and what he wanted to achieve. He is very keen and he really wants to be here to improve. But he also understands there needs to be competition when you are at a top club. That pushes you.
"Overall I like his game when I was watching from afar. I like his runs and he has a real killer instinct in front of goal. “You don’t get that many goals unless you want to score – which I love. There are other areas we can look at to help him get to another level.”
